The DROUKFARBEN HELLAS S.A.E. Group in collaboration with the University of Western Attica (coordinating body), the University of Patras and the National Center for Natural Sciences Research “Demokritos” participated in the implementation of the project, “Development of Aqueous Conductive Gravure-Flexography Inks based on Graphene”, aka ‘GRAPHEIN’. The project was developed within the framework of the RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE Action and was co-financed by the European Union and national resources through the EP. Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (EPANEK).
The project “GRAPHEIN” aims towards the production of conductive water-based printing inks based on graphene. By utilizing the knowledge and experience from the industry the goal is to develop a final product that can be used in existing industrial ink production lines. The possibility of scaling up the recipes of the inks, based on a combination of specific criteria, is being studied. The design of a functional electronic layout and specialized printing options are also being analyzed, which will highlight the printing capabilities of the new inks in demanding industrial applications of printed flexible electronic circuits, as well as in multitude other applications.
DRUKFARBEN, in collaboration with the University of West Attica, has tested a wide range of commercial resins from major companies and has arrived delivered an approved product. Vanessa Panagiotopoulou, DRUKFARBEN WB Inks Lab Supervisor, said: “Our expertise and many years of experience at DRUKFARBEN in terms of ink development and innovation was an important element in the successful completion of the project.”
